“Who’s Afraid of Wetlands” Join the staff of Northwest Park on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. for our “Who’s Afraid on Wetlands” presentation. For much of history, wetlands were regarded as waste places where pestilence and danger lurked. More recently, we’ve come to better appreciate their ecological importance, especially as habitat for fish, wildlife, and plants. Focusing on species found in Northwest Park, biologist Jim Arrigoni will detail the secret lives of mysterious creatures such as Spotted Turtles, Marbled Salamanders, Gray Treefrogs, and Barred Owls. Following the 45-minute presentation, we will take a short night walk to one of Northwest Park’s exemplary wetlands to see and hear what’s happening on an autumn night. Dress appropriately for the weather. If you don’t have your own flashlight or headlamp, you can borrow one from the Park. The cost is $10.00 for Windsor residents and $15.00 for non-residents. Registration required. Please visit townofwindsorct.com/recreation or call 860-285-1886 for more information. Northwest Park is located at 145 Lang Road, Windsor. |
