Nora Jane Struthers The Friends of Northwest Park are pleased to present singer/songwriter Nora Jane Struthers and Joe Overton in concert on Saturday March 30 at 7:30 pm at the Northwest Park Nature Center in Windsor, Connecticut. Nora Jane Struthers and Joe Overton are a husband and wife duo based in Nashville, Tennessee. While the couple spends most of their time performing Struthers' original songs with their band Nora Jane Struthers and The Party Line, on their new album Homecoming, the duo returns to their roots, performing traditional Appalachian fiddle tunes, murder ballades, and classic country duets. Overton, originally from Smithville, Tennessee, is a talented multi-instrumentalist, switching between fiddle and open-back banjo with ease. Struthers' rhythm guitar playing is driving, complete with old-timey base-runs, and is a perfect complement to Overton's funky fiddling and grooving banjo. What really sets this record apart though is their duet singing. Their voices fit together so perfectly that they seem to be coming from a single source. On Homecoming, Struthers and Overton both pay tribute to their heroes (The Louvin Brothers, The Stanley Brothers, The Carter Family, and more) and take their place beside them. The Northwest Park Nature Center is a smoke free, handicap accessible facility located in Windsor, Connecticut.
