Join the Human Relations Commission for its first event of Black History Month, a free movie night featuring the documentary "Strange Fruit" on Friday, February 8 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
"Strange Fruit" is an historical documentary of the origin of Ms Billie Holiday and the haunting classic song, Strange Fruit. The film tells the story of a powerful protest song and weaves together the experiences of African Americans, immigrant Jews, civil rights leaders, music publishers, and jazz musicians.
The film runs 57 min, there will be a short discussion to follow as to how this relates to today. |
