Collecting canned pasta, meats, soups & stews for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. Bring what you can! Drive-By Drop Off - You won't even need to leave your car! This has been a difficult winter for many Windsor residents because of COVID and a snowy, cold season. That is why a group of Windsor residents is inviting the public to support a non-contact, safe “Live. Love. Give. Drive-Up Food Collection” to benefit the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. On Saturday, February 27th between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., anyone can drive their vehicle up to the curb of a house at 12 Pierce Lane (right off Marshall Phelps Rd.) in Windsor, stay inside their car or truck, and volunteers will safely remove donations of non-perishable food from the back seat or trunk. Items needed at this time include canned chicken; baked goods, coffee/tea, canned pasta, soups and stews, baked beans, condiments, crackers, cereal, peanut butter & jelly, canned fruits and vegetables, as well as diapers and personal hygiene products. This drive-up collection event will take place rain or shine. This February 27th grassroots non-contact collection effort has been organized by local Berkshire Hathaway realtor Sharon Dillon Rispoli and a group of her friends. “Windsor is so fortunate to have a local food and fuel bank that supports residents who need a little help, and this is a safe, easy way that anyone can drive up, donate food, and feel good about supporting our community,” explains Ms. Dillon Rispoli. “Every food item will help our neighbors, and we encourage people to tell their friends to come drive up too.” Rispoli and her friends hosted a “Live. Love. Give. Dance” for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank back in October 2019 that raised more than $14,000. While COVID restrictions have so far prohibited the group from holding a second fundraising dance, Rispoli said they hope to hold one at the end of 2021, when it is safe to do so. For more information about the February 27th “Live. Love. Give. Drive-Up Food Collection” to benefit the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank, contact Sharon Dillon Rispoli at 860-205-9316. The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1967 as the Windsor Community Service Council (WCSC). The all-volunteer Board, along with our partners at Windsor Social Services, works to accomplish our Mission of ensuring that no Windsor resident goes hungry, is cold, or is without basic necessities. The generosity of local individuals, businesses, civic and religious organizations provides for 95 percent of the WF&FB’s annual operating budget. If you are a Windsor resident and not a current client of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank but find yourself in need of food assistance, call the Windsor Social Services office at 860-285-1839, Mondays through Fridays.
