Deirdre Flint The Friends of Northwest Park are pleased to present satirical singer/songwriter Deirdre Flint in concert on Saturday March 16 at 7:30 pm at the Northwest Park Nature Center in Windsor, Connecticut. Flints’ performances hang out at the intersection where stand-up comedy and folk music collide. From The Kennedy Center to coffeehouses in Korea, big festivals to backyards, Deirdre Flint delivers a concert packed with lots of laughs, audience participation and a few misty eyes as well. Billboard magazine says of Deirdre, “She plays grow-up satire with a non-cynical wink.” Sing Out Magazine remarks, “Her sense of humor is suitable for family listening and she pokes fun of life as it is lived. She’s a former elementary school teacher who got her start in music by writing humorous American history songs for her fifth graders. That lead to a career as a singer/songwriter and Flint joined the The Four Bitchin’ Babes in 2005, a group started twenty years ago by Christine Lavin. Says Flint, “I don’t do many solo shows anymore – the schedule doesn’t allow for it, but The Northwest Park Concert Series is special. The audience is warm and friendly and organizer Chuck Drake throws a maple syrup collecting field trip in for the artist as a bonus. I’m bringing a bucket!” The Northwest Park Nature Center is a smoke free, handicap accessible facility located in Windsor, Connecticut. Tickets are $16 and are available at www.northwestpark.org or by calling 860-285-1886 Proceeds will benefit environmental studies at the Park. |
