Civilian Conservation Corps Camps
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a public works program that operated from 1933 to 1942, as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal. It targeted young men and veterans who had difficulty finding jobs during the Great Depression, providing unskilled manual labor related to environmental conservation. Please join us at Windsor Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 for a program by author Marty Podskoch, who will discuss the 21 CCC camps located throughout our state with particular emphasis on Poquonock’s Camp Britton.

Please join the staff of Northwest Park on Thursday, September 21st from 7:00-8:30pm for Northwest Park’s Adult Education Series. This evening Experience Nature As a Healer. In this multimedia presentation, Marlow Shami will focus on the challenges and rewards of connecting with nature in a mass-technological culture. After the talk, participants will experience the simple power of nature’s healing effects through a guided meditation. Refreshments will be provided. The Town of Windsor Human Relations Chairman will again be hosting a delegation to the African American History Museum and the Library of Congress, in Washington DC Friday, September 22 - 24, 2017 .

“It was such a educational trip and wonderful experience for all that went last February that I thought Id take another group to the museum, it really is a magical experience touring the museum and the capital buildings of our government.
