35th Northwest Park Country Fair
Save the Date: Windsor's 35th Annual Northwest Park Country Fair

For a full day of fun, family activities, good food and entertainment, come to Windsor's Northwest Park on Saturday, Sept. 16 for the 35th Annual Country Fair at the Park on Lang Road in Windsor, CT. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 17 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.)

Participate in the Cake Walk or Egg Drop Contest; Carve a pumpkin, Build a scarecrow; or just sit back and enjoy music by a variety of entertainers.

On Saturday, September 16, from 5 – 7 p.m., Windsor Art Center kicks off its 10th anniversary celebration with an opening reception for Piece By Piece: selected works from the Mothers In Art (MIA) Artist Collective. This exhibit, which runs from September 16 through October 28, responds to the title question of Jacoba Urist’s May 21, 2015 article in The New York Times, “Why Can’t Great Artists Be Mothers?”

Zion Church, 320 Hayden Station Road, Windsor. The Connecticut Freedom Trail recognizes the importance sites throughout the State that are associated with the heritage and movement towards freedom of African Americans. Windsor Freedom Trail Run provides individuals an opportunity to pay tribute to those who fled from the South in search of freedom by way of the Underground Railroad. Connect with an energetic movement of Windsor men dedicated to uplifting a community, inspiring our children and encouraging academic achievement and excellence.

The First Town Downtown 2017 Farmers’ Market is gearing up for its 9th season! This well-attended local marketplace in Windsor Center includes locally grown fruits, vegetables, baked goods, herbs, eggs, cheese, skincare products, candles and more.

The Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday June 29 - October 19 from 3:30-6:30pm and is located at 240 Broad Street in the center of Windsor.

Most museums have exhibit opening parties, as did Windsor Historical Society for the opening of The Changing Face of War: Windsor Responds to World War I. The Society’s staff found so much of interest in this subject that they are holding an exhibit wrap-up program and sharing a global view of this war at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
