Erik's journey to success started when he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. Prior to joining J. Morrissey, Erik was an Experienced Audit Senior with CohnReznick LLP for about four years and worked with clients in manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, professional services, educational, and not-for-profit. As lead auditor on his engagements, he was able to learn various management styles and organizational structures, which allow him to better, understand the true needs of his clients as a recruiter. His knowledge of the accounting industry enables him to communicate effectively with his candidates to ensure the right fit for both parties. He also received a Master's Degree in Accounting from Post University and became Certified Public Accountant. Erik says about his job as CPA, "There's not many different opportunities in a war career, if you will, that combines the satisfaction of helping out a company by finding them the right people while at the same time helping out that person, their family, career, and livelihood." The J. Morrissey moved to Windsor in 2006. Before that, they were in Hartford on Columbus Blvd. for twenty years. His father started the business in 1986 with his partner, and wife. Over the years was an expansion of seven employees. Upon moving, Erik says, "We wanted to have a space we could call our own. Something that was an old building." Parking was an issue in Hartford for clients. J. Morrissey also has a location in Springfield, MA. "Windsor was the absolute perfect location between our Springfield office and clients in Hartford." They fell in love with the Huntington House at 289 Broad St. It was geographically desirable between both cities. He says they have no plans of moving out. "We're invested in Windsor." Erik says there have been a lot of awesome things going on in town. "The Chamber has been great to us." The Windsor Station Apartments (his mother did the interior designing), lots of foot traffic, new restaurants abounds in the center. He's fond of 226 The Bean, and thinks Get Baked is awesome. Erik is very enthusiastic about the upcoming commuter railroad system, especially for clients that are further away. Another big plus is the view from the old building's third floor balcony. The staff can enjoy seeing everything going on at the green, festivals, and the Summer Concert Series are always a favorite. Erik is actively involved in the Cherish the Children Foundation; Board of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce; CTCPA Golf Tournament Interest Group, Bushnell Young Professionals Advisory Group, and Post University Accounting Advisory Board. He is also an Active Member of the Connecticut Society of CPAs, a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and Glastonbury Hills Country Club. He and his wife are Glastonbury residents who have a 2-year-old "puppy." When visiting family up in Vermont, they like to ski at Magic Mountain during the winter, and spend summers either around their yard or taking the boat out to Block Island. Erik likes to kayak and golf too. Three words that describe Erik: compassionate, focused, open-minded. |
