November is National Adoption month and our Department is looking to you to help us celebrate families who are created through adoption! We hope that you will support us in this important work by sharing the below information. Our goal is to spread the word to chamber members and local businesses about adoption and the need for adoptive families for Connecticut's children. There are many children in Connecticut who need an adoptive family. In an effort to recruit adoptive families the "Heart Gallery" was created by a Social Worker in New Mexico in 2001. The Heart Gallery is a photo art display featuring remarkable children and youth in state care who need an adoptive family. Volunteer professional photographers give their time and talent in capturing each child's and youth's personality in a photograph portrait. In 2003 the Heart Gallery began in Connecticut. To date over 46 states have created their own Heart Galleries. The Heart Gallery is scheduled for display at the below sites during the month of November: The First Cathedral 1151 Blue Hills Avenue, Bloomfield, CT from 11/1/08 - 11/15/08.
