| The Civitan Club of Windsor raises money for important service projects by selling delicious Claxton Fruit Cake during the holiday season. Look for Claxton Fruit Cake at Geissler's, Stop & Shop and Highland Park Supermarkets as well as local branches of Windsor Federal Savings Bank. By selling Claxton Fruit Cake, these businesses help support local Civitan projects. The 1 pound packages of Fruitcake have a long shelf life and make excellent holiday gifts. They can also be frozen for future use. The Windsor Civitan Club is just one of hundreds of Civitan clubs that sell over a million pounds of Claxton Fruit Cake each year throughout the United States and Canada to help fund local community service projects. Local Civitan clubs meet a wide variety of needs in their communities, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. The Civitan International Foundation continues this mission with a $20 million dollar commitment to its flagship project, the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The Center conducts research on the development of the central nervous system, with special emphasis on human development and developmental disabilities.
