Participating in the Adopt-A-Park program, four club members spent a cumulative total of 16 hours at the park on October 5, working alongside employees from the Windsor Public Works Department. Club members helped spread stone and mulch in addition to their regular litter pickup. While the club's main focus is helping individuals with developmental disabilities, members often participate in other community projects as well. Other projects have included, painting at WILA (Windsor Independent Living Association) and senior housing, cooking hot dogs and hamburgers at the Northwest Park Fair, running bingo at a local nursing home and volunteering at many community events. By participating in the Adopt-A-Park program, Civitan hopes that keeping the park neat and clean will encourage others to do so as well by disposing of trash properly and taking out what is brought in. Anyone interested in joining the Windsor Civitan Club and participating in one or more of its many rewarding projects is encouraged to contact Bob Hartman at 688-6139 or any club member. |
