With the arrival of the new “Big Blue” rolling recycling carts during the week of June 23rd, Windsor residents have the choice of keeping their old orange recycling bin or they can simply put it into “Big Blue” to be recycled. (The same applies for households in the fire district that have small blue bins.) In the spirit of recycling, reusing and reducing, the Town of Windsor with some generous support from local businesses and the Windsor Jaycees is sponsoring a contest to gather ideas on the best practical and the best creative reuse of the old orange recycling bin. Thanks to the generosity of the Windsor Jaycees and local businesses including: Windsor Chamber of Commerce, Konica Minolta, PC Development, Hosting CT, Invisible Gold, Windsor Sanitation and Four Seasons Landscaping, prizes in both categories include an Apple ipad mini, an Apple TV (digital multimedia receiver) and an orange azalea plant. - The contest is open to Windsor residents. Simply submit your idea in 50 words or less (photos strongly encouraged) by email to: Jubrey@townofwindsorct.com by July 8th. (If you do not have computer access, entries can be dropped off at the Town Manager’s Office at Windsor Town Hall, 275 Broad Street. - Ideas and phoptos will be shared throughout the contest on the Town of Windsor website, and entries will be reviewed by an esteem panel of judges. - The top 10 ideas in each category will be announced on July 14th and everyone can begin voting for their top three favorite ideas online at yourwinput.com. - Voting will end on July 20th and the winners will be announced on the Town of Windsor website July 21st. Contest details are available on the town’s website and an informational flyer on the contest will be delivered to each household with their new “Big Blue” recycling cart.
