The Town of Windsor Emergency Operations Center is closed. Staff is available to answer non-emergency questions about the storm at 860-285-1800. Recycling and Trash Pick-Up: Since there was no recycling collection on Tuesday, recycling collection for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. (Similar to a Monday holiday week schedule.) The garbage pick-up schedule is unchanged. Leaf collection will continue on the customer's regular trash day as always. Storm Debris Removal: Disposal of storm debris, (branches, tree trunks, etc.) will be free for Windsor/Bloomfield residents and businesses at the Windsor/Bloomfield Landfill located at 500 Huckleberry Road through Saturday, November 10, 2012. The Town of Windsor Public Works crews will not be picking up debris from residential curbsides. Some limitations apply to landscaping businesses, so please contact the landfill at 860-285-1833 for guidelines. Landfill hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday though Saturday. CL&P Information: As of 9:00 AM approximately 5% of Windsor customers are without power. Connecticut Light & Power continues to make good progress. All Windsor roads are clear for travel. Charging Stations Residents who need to charge phones or other electronic devices may come to one of the two libraries (Wilson Branch, 365 Windsor Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; or Main Library, 323 Broad Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.). Nightmare on Broad Street Halloween Celebration Still On! The Nightmare on Broad Street event scheduled for October 31st from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM in Windsor center is still on! For details, visit www.windsorcc.org. Extended Voter Registration: In response to the dangerous weather impacting the state from Hurricane Sandy, Governor Dannel P. Malloy on Sunday evening signed an executive order extending the in-person voter registration deadline in Connecticut to Thursday, November 1, at 8 p.m. for those who intend to vote in the upcoming election. The deadline had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, at 8 p.m. Absentee Ballots: Extended hours at the town clerk's office will be held Thursday, November 1st from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 3rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Monday, November 5th the office will operate on its normal schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Ballots are due back to the Town Clerk's Office by Tuesday, November 6th by 8:00 PM. |
