Passport To Summer Fun

Passport To Summer Fun
Every summer I look forward to the Chamber's Passport program. It's a great excuse to go out to breakfast, lunch and dinner as often as I want (can you tell that restaurants are my weakness?). During Passport season I find myself asking my mom, sister and friends out to lunch more than usual which helps use keep up with each other over the busy summer months.

As someone who loves to go out for a good meal and also loves to support local businesses, the Passport program is a special favorite of mine. It's so much fun meeting people you know at the local restaurants, concerts, etc and competing with them for the grand prize! This year the prizes are a Flat Screen TV, an Amazon Kindle, Gas and Grocery Gift Cards and a Restaurant and Attraction Gift Certificate Package all valued over $1,200.

The Passport to Summer Fun really does have something for everyone: great restaurants including Chinese, Italian, Indian, Japanese and American cuisine; and fun things to do like go to the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum, Concerts on the Green and SS&C Summerwind. Have fun going out on the town you never know, you might just win.

Get at least 12 stamps in your Passport, register online or by phone and drop off your Passport at the Windsor Chamber of Commerce / Tourist Information Center at 261 Broad Street by August 31st to be entered into the prize drawing. And an extra bonus . if you get all 27 Passport stamps you'll automatically get a $10 Chamber Gift Certificate, good at over 42 restaurants, retail shops and more!

The Mancarella family had a great time getting their Passport stamps last year and plan to do the Passport again this year. "We especially enjoyed going to all the different restaurants and the Windsor Historical Society," said Joseph Mancarella, a 2008 Passport contest winner.

The Passport program is the pet project of the Chamber's Tourism Committee, headed up by myself and Executive Director, Jane Garibay. "The Chamber's mission is to support and strengthen the Windsor business community which supports the entire community," says Garibay. "The Passport is a fun program that brings people to Windsor from other towns and other states to enjoy our local businesses and has become an annual summer tradition."

The Windsor Chamber Tourism Committee also offers an email newsletter called "What's Going on in Windsor?" that lists fun things to do each week. The public is welcome to sign up online.
