Businesses and Charities Working Together
Businesses and charities can work together for everyone's benefit. The "Windsor Chamber Cares" annual benefit auction has been proving that for thirty-one years, and will once again this Friday, April 10th.

This year the following three non-profit organizations will be supported through the Auction:

WIN-TV is our local non-profit community television station. Win-TV maintains a comprehensive video collection of the history of Windsor and the people who have lived here, provides video of current events, and gives voice to the community at large. With support from the Chamber and the community, WIN-TV has grown into a full blown community media center, broadcasting 24 hours a day, offering videos on demand and streaming live on the Internet.

The Windsor Education Foundation is an independent non-profit organization formed by Windsor citizens to support Windsor's teachers and students by funding original, creative educational projects for Windsor kids. These innovative projects benefit large numbers of students with varying learning abilities, all without relying on the tax-funded school budget."

The Windsor Food and Fuel Bank is a non-profit organization of concerned private volunteer citizens. It provides food for 500 households including parents, children, seniors and our working poor. The Windsor Food and Fuel Bank also provides home heating assistance to 100 households. Because of the generosity of private citizens, corporations, civic organizations and schools, the Food and Fuel Bank, in partnership with the Town of Windsor Social Services, makes sure that no person goes hungry, is cold or is without basic necessities.

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce is the also a beneficiary of its own auction, of course. As a non-profit organization, the Chamber helps businesses work together for their mutual benefit, provides voice in legislative matters and improves the quality of life in Windsor through various community and educational programs.

"We've been running our charitable auction for thirty-one years in order to support our goals and to help other local charities. We've raised over $600,000 over the years for other charitable groups which we believe has made a positive effect in our beloved community," said Executive Director, Jane Garibay.

Tickets for the auction are $45 and include a wide array of hot hors d'oeuvres and carving stations. Tickets can be purchased online at www.WindsorCC.org or at the door. The auction will take place on Friday, April 10th at 5:30 pm at Maneeley's Banquet Facility in South Windsor. The auction is pleased to have Konica Minolta Printing Solutions and Windsor Federal Savings as presenting sponsors with additional sponsorship by Walgreens Distribution Center and Griffin Land.

"Plan to bring your family, friends, neighbors, and business associates to share in the fun," says Marshall Fox and Paula Pierce Auction Committee Co-Chairs, "and support these essential non-profit organizations."
