Tourism Committee Meeting

Present: Jane Garibay: Kim Francis, Paula Pierce, And Phyllis Stargardter

Meeting Notes:

1.     Update on Walking Tour

·      Bicycle Loan Program: May partner with the Friends of Windsor Public Library.  They have done some leg work on how programs like this work. Jane will stay in contact with Susan Kirschner Robinson.

·      Simsbury has a bike program.  Ashley will contact them and try to meet to gather information

·      Main St Grant might be a possibility

·      Mobile Sight; Make WCC website formatted for cell phones. Partner with the Windsor Historical Society for information. They had worked on the project concept and will be a huge asset. Paula will talk to John.

 

2.     Update on Flyer: None

Possibly add quote from Oliver Ellsworth

 

3.     Update on tourism E-news subscribers.

·      We will not pursue automatic sign-up.

·      We will add a box to check on member application - Jane.

·      PSA at WIN-TV on how to sign-up to receive tourism enewsletter and how to submit event for calendar - Paula.

 

4.     Other

·      Jane brought back an idea from a NEACCE Conference on how they used a Bracelet with charms for their small business Saturday.  The Chamber charged $100 per business for 100 charms per business with the Chamber providing the bracelet.

Possibly for Summer Passport Program. Jane will contact the Chamber for more information.
