The Town of Windsor Health Department and Hartford Hospital’s Partnership for Breast Care will be sponsoring Hartford Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Program in Windsor to provide Digital Screening Mammograms on Tuesday August 28th, 2018 at the Windsor Town Hall, 275 Broad Street, Windsor, CT 06095. Appointments are available from 9:00 AM to 1:45 PM. Those eligible are women age 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months and one day. To schedule an appointment or for more information please call Sharon Enot, RN, at the Windsor Health Department at (860) 285-1824 or the main number (860) 285-1823. Most insurance are accepted, co-pays and deductibles are the responsibility of the patient and if you do not have insurance Hartford Hospital has donated funds to pay for your screening mammogram. The Partnership for Breast Health states that Connecticut has the second highest breast cancer rate in the nation and close to 3,000 women in Connecticut will discover that they have breast cancer this year. In Connecticut, breast cancer is the leading cause of death for women ages 40 to 55. To decrease the breast cancer mortality rate, early detection is essential. Screening mammograms are the most effective method of early detection of breast cancer in women with no apparent symptoms. When mammography detects breast cancer in an early stage, women who receive prompt treatment have a greater than 90% chance of long-term survival. Early detection can save on the treatment costs as well as the suffering of women and their loved ones. |
