| | | Join us on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM in the Society’s library for our free Genealogy Support Group. Just starting out? Experienced but stumped? Want access to Ancestry.com? Family history researchers find that historical artifacts and documents become pieces of a complex and fascinating puzzle that shows you where you came from and who you are. Inevitably, experienced as well as inexperienced genealogists hit snags. Society staff members have been helping family history researchers – beginners and experts for many years. Most genealogy researchers are helpful individuals who love to share strategies and success stories. You just might find a solution to your brick wall through a fellow family history searcher in these FREE discussion and problem-solving sessions at the Society. The Society has a World Explorer membership to Ancestry.com, which means worldwide records are now available to all support group participants. Come see what it’s all about, and come back if you’ve been before because each session is different. Contact windsorhistoricalsociety.org or 860-688-3813 for information. And put upcoming First Thursday Genealogy Support Group sessions on your calendar.
Observe Hearth Cooking in the Strong-Howard House November 9 On Saturday, November 9, the Society will be holding a hearth cooking class in its hands-on Strong-Howard House. People in the class under the direction of hearth cooker Becky Hendricks will be preparing sweet and savory pies and puddings. The class is filled but it’s a great opportunity to tour the house, peek into the keeping room where the cooking is taking place, and smell the smells of hearth cooking. General admission to the Society’s library and historic houses is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students and free to children under 12 and WHS members. |
