Irish comes to Northwest Park

The Northwest Park Concert Series offers a night of spirited Irish Music with Banish Misfortune on January 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the Northwest Park Nature Center in Windsor, Ct.

Banish Misfortune is a six-member group from western Massachusetts that plays traditional music from Ireland. Their instrumentation includes fiddle, concertina, mandolin, accordion, flute, and guitar. They have been keeping their audiences throughout southern New England asking for more with their rousing sets of jigs, reels, hornpipes, waltzes, polkas and airs, as well as the occasiona

Tuesday, January 10: Art Demonstration by Ceil Rossi from 6:45 to 8:45 PM at the L.P. Wilson Community Center, sponsored by the Windsor Palette and Brush Club. Ceil will be demonstrating gourd carving with wood burning and mixed media. Refreshments will be served. Free. 860-285-8694
Living in Arizona for 26 years, Ceil discovered and learned from well-known gourd artists “the art of the southwest”. Soon she became a juried artist herself and opened the Carefree Gourd Gallery studio. Today she lives in Agawam, Massachusetts and participates in many art competitions and fine art

First Saturday Learn & Play at Windsor Historical Society March 4!
Have you wanted to visit but can’t wait until we open at 11 AM? Bring the whole crew on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 and from 9 – 11 a.m., and enjoy our Windsor history galleries and Hands-on-History Learning Center at your own pace.  Meet other families, try out our train table, build something spectacular with Legos, “milk” Flavia the cow, don colonial costumes and “cook” up a feast! Perfect for even the youngest learners (crawling is encouraged) with Windsor artist Sue Tait Porcaro offering face painting at 10 a.m. And it’s FREE!

Regular house tours will still be held at 11 AM and 1 PM, and

Weekend Cross-country Ski and Snowshoe Rentals at Windsor’s Northwest Park

Beginning January on Saturday and Sunday you can rent equipment to cross-country ski or snowshoe at Northwest Park through snow-laden forests and fields. Rentals are available from the Warming Shed on weekends only, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Children and adult sizes are available. Snow conditions permitting. A 6” base is required. The rental fee is $10.00 for Windsor resident and $15.00 for non-resident. Call for conditions 860-285-1886.
