As the Shad Always Return to Windsor, so do the great New England organizations, businesses, food vendors, crafters, exhibitors, parade participants and live entertainment to the Windsor Shad Derby - Windsor's Most Beloved Festival and New England Springtime Tradition !!!

Hosted by the Windsor Jaycees, under the direction of the Windsor Shad Fest Bureau, this year's Shad Derby Green Activities and Parade take place on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 from 9am to 4pm.

The Windsor Town Green will be packed with plenty of local entertainment - magicians, games

Kiwanis Shad Derby Road Race
The Kiwanis Club of Windsor is the proud sponsor of one of the longest continuously running road races in the state of Connecticut, attracting runners from Connecticut and surrounding states. The event, now called the Annual Kiwanis Shad Derby Road Race, will be the 48th in the series. The 5K road race is also accompanied by a 2.5K fun walk. The 5K race takes you through parts of the town of Windsor, the oldest town in Connecticut, starting on the Windsor Green, along the picturesque Farmington River and back to the Windsor Green. Mythology Project 3 Auditions
The Windsor Art Center seeks creative and collaborative actors to participate in the creation and performance of an original short play inspired by Slavic mythology and folklore. Auditions will be held Saturday, May 19 , from 4:30-7PM at the Windsor Art Center. An ensemble of six actors will be selected to devise the performance from the ground up, with the actors playing several roles each. A modest stipend will be provided to all performers. This project is sponsored by a grant from the NewAlliance Foundation.

Rehearsals: June 9, June 27-28, July 23-August 15

Shad Derby Festival Parade
One of the highlights of Shad Derby Day Festivities is the annual Shad Derby Parade that kicks off at 11:30am and marches through Windsor Center.

Sponsored by the Windsor Jaycees the Shad Derby Parade features some of New England's most popular bands, schools, marching units, local entertainment acts a long with the region's finest local civic organizations and festive businesses marching down Broad Street in Windsor Center !!!

Windsor Art Center Artist Talk
In conjunction with the current exhibition,Out in the Open: A Connecticut Plein Air Landscape Exhibition, Marilyn Swift will talk about “Plein Air Painting: Its Challenges and Rewards,” on Sunday, May 20th at 1 p.m.

The Windsor Art Center will be honored to open its exhibition of paintings by seven established, award-winning members of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Out in the Open: A Connecticut Plein Air Landscape Exhibition, which will run from May 12 through June 23, 2018, will include works painted outdoors in inspiring places around this small state.
