This meaningful Shad Derby Blood Drive is sponsored by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce each year as part of the Windsor Shad Derby Festivities.
Many generous Americans nationwide have been donating blood since the terrorist attacks September 11 to ensure a sustained and secure blood supply for all Americans. Together with the Red Cross, these blood heroes are ensuring that the safest possible blood is readily available whenever and wherever needed - for the military, for other blood centers in America and for all 5,000

2018 Shad Derby Youth Fishing Derby
Saturday May 12th, 2018

This Shad Derby event is sponsored by The Town of Windsor Recreation Department.

This youth fishing derby is open to children ages 1-12. It will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 8-10am at Washington Park in Windsor Center.

Prizes will be handed out in several categories.

Archaeological Discoveries!
Please join us on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 6:45 p.m. at the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead (778 Palisado Avenue) for a short tour and talk by Connecticut State Archaeologist Brian Jones whose team did work at the Homestead last summer. This program is co-sponsored by Windsor Historical Society and the Homestead. At 6:45, Jones will lead interested participants to view the site of recent excavations. Then at 7 p.m. Jones will share what he found and show what it reveals about 17th and 18th century Windsor life in a PowerPoint presentation.

Geography of Wine
Wine is more than taste, smell, and appearance. It is a reflection of a place and its people. If you are over age 21, join us at the Windsor Public Library while Brian Somers, author of Geography of Wine and Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at CCSU, will present a wine tasting and talk about South American wine. The presentation will be from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:45 PM. Registration is required. Free. 860-285-1925 to register.

This Shad Derby event is sponsored by the Town of Windsor Recreation Department and is for kids of all ages !!!
The basketball shooting challenge will take place Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at the Windsor Community Center (330 Windsor Ave.) The time for the tournament is from 6:30-8:30pm
Boys & Girls Ages 7-12 (6:30 pm-7:30 pm)
Boys & Girls Ages 13-16 (7:30 pm-8:30 pm)
This 2018 Shad Derby Event is FREE for kids.
Trophies will be handed out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Mayor Donald Trinks has issued a proclamation designating Thursday, May 10, 2018, as Small Business Day in Windsor .

The Windsor community is invited to celebrate Windsor’s small businesses as part of National Small Business Day on the Town Green from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All Windsor residents and businesses are invited to some late afternoon fun including music and food by the Windsor High School Young Woman's Leadership Group . Sheila Schmidt Family Fishing Night
The always popular family fishing night out will take place on Friday May 11th, 2018 at Washington Park from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Windsor Jaycees are stocking the pond with trout and are inviting families to come fish, have some dinner and enjoy springtime in Windsor.

This event is named after Windsor's first Special Education teacher and lifelong advocate of children. The Jaycees will supply the fishing poles, bait, and dinner (for people).

On Saturday, May 12, The Windsor Art Center will be honored to open its exhibition of paintings by seven established, award-winning members of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Out in the Open: A Connecticut Plein Air Landscape Exhibition, which will run from May 12 through June 23, 2018, will include works painted outdoors in inspiring places around this small state.
