Last chance to see this exhibit at the Windsor Art Center is Saturday, March 5!

The Windsor Art Center is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition entitled Art from Across The Tracks: A Celebration of our “Studios” which will run January 15 through March 5, 2022. This exhibition includes works by resident studio artists at Windsor Train Station:

Andres Chaparro- paintings inspired by jazz
LeaAnn Cogswell- representational sculpture of human and animal forms
Cathy Doocy- explorations of composition and color using the vernacular of landscape painting
Michelle Hawran- paintings inspire

POSTPONED: Winter Sowing Workshop
Beat the winter doldrums! You don't need an expensive grow light system or outdoor greenhouse to get a jump spring/summer plants!

On Saturday, January 29 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, local resident gardener and chairperson of the First Town Downtown Windsor Monarch Project, Suzanne Urban, will show you how to make your own mini-greenhouse and share her own tips on successful winter sowing.

The cost is $20 per person.
Add $10 per additional family member.
Seeds, organic soil and supplies will be provided.

Swim lessons will begin on Saturday, January 29th and will continue every Saturday through March 12th. Swim lessons are held at the indoor pool at Windsor High School. Learn this critical lifelong skill from Windsor Recreation Department's finest lifeguards.

Valentines for Veterans
Drop off your homemade Valentine’s for Veterans no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, January 28th and we’ll make sure the cards get distributed to local Veterans’ organizations for Valentine’s Day. This activity can be a teachable moment for youth to learn who veterans are and why they are so important to our community. Cards must be dropped off at L.P. Join long time Society member and researcher Al Boehm for the fascinating story of how changes in the British royal government and the historic Charter Oak incident shaped Windsor’s 17th-century development and doubled the town’s buildable land.

This virtual program is presented in two parts via Zoom on consecutive Thursdays, January 20 and January 27 from 7 to 8 PM.

We will host Patty Servaes of the Elder Benefits Resource Center. In partnership with Stonebrook Village, Patty will share the “Family Guide for the VA’s Basic Pension with Aid & Attendance in Assisted & Independent Living”. Wartime veterans and their surviving spouse may be eligible to receive a non-service connected pension known as Basic Pension with Aid and Attendance or Widow/Death Pension (Aid and Attendance).

Tuesday, January 25 at 9:30 AM during Coffee Connection in the Senior Center Cafe.
