CHR's Steam Train Half Marathon
We are excited to announce that The Steam Train Half Marathon and Relay is still taking place, but VIRTUALLY, this April! The decision was made to adhere to Connecticut’s current guidelines regarding racing events. With that said, we have been working hard behind the scenes to bring you an amazing and robust event with options for anyone to participate in! All proceeds from this event will support CHR’s mission of providing Real Hope through vital, community-based behavioral health programs that serve thousands of children, families, and adults across Connecticut.

Owls are the most popular nighttime birds, but there are actually many more nocturnal species to watch and listen for than you may realize. Join us at the Main Library for a Zoom workshop with Ken Elkins of the Bent of the River Audobon Center for their Nocturnal Birds presentation on Monday, April 12 at 6:00 PM.

Art Exhibition
The Windsor Palette & Brush Club announces its Annual Spring Art Exhibition Members Show.
The show opens on April 11, 2021 and runs through May 6, 2021at the lower level of the Windsor Town Hall, located at 275 Broad St, Windsor, CT. Please use rear entrance.

The show is open to the public during regular town hall hours and any evening hours that the town hall is open for meetings.

First Aid & CPR Class

First Aid & CPR Class
Students will be taught First Aid (2-year certification) on how to
respond to common first aid emergencies, including burns; cuts; head, neck, back
injuries, and more. Students will also be taught CPR/AED (2-year certification) to
learn how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in adults, including
the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Everyone is expected to wear
a mask and will be seated 6’ apart. Upon successful completion of the course,
participants will receive a certification card. Please bring your own lunch.

Description: The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Class is designed to teach 11-17-year-olds how to respond to emergencies with first aid, rescue breathing, make good decisions under pressure, communicate effectively with parents, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children, feed, diaper and care for infants, and start a babysitting business! Everyone is expected to wear a mask and will be seated 6’ apart. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification card. Please bring a lunch.

Virtual Home Alone Safety
Description: This interactive 90-minute course will cover safety concerns parents
have when their children are by themselves. Students will learn to be more aware of
the potential dangers they could face when they are alone. Each student will
receive a workbook that covers house key safety, indoor and outdoor (including
kitchen) safety, gun safety, fires, and gas leaks. Parents will receive a workbook in
the mail with conversation starters such as creating a family fire escape plan and
the importance of an emergency contact list.

Ages: Recommended ages 8-13. Windsor residents only.

Vaccination Celebration! Senior Discount in April
Many Rivers Community Acupuncture is celebrating the fact that eighty percent of people over the age of 65 have received COVID-19 vaccinations in Connecticut. Many Rivers will offer discounted acupuncture treatments for people 65 and older in April.

Acupuncture treatments will be offered at $20 for an initial treatment for new patients, and $15 for each follow-up treatment for returning patients who are 65 and older from April 1 through 30.

Voices Against Lyme Disease a 501(c)3, based in Windsor, CT is continuing their Support Group for those with a tickborne illness or a family member and friends. This group meets on the first and third Saturday of every month and is free to anyone wishing to join us. We use strict COVID 19 guidelines for our meetings. In addition, to support discussions we also provide up to date research information on tick borne illnesses, awareness and prevention.
