March 25: Wake up and head to Northwest Park this morning for the annual Friends of Northwest Park Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Warming Shed. Bring an appetite for a full breakfast of pancakes and sausage smothered in 100% pure maple syrup made right at Windsor’s very own Northwest Park. Refreshment choices include orange juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12 years of age and children under 3 are free.

“Money Matters” Youth Summit is a conference for high school teenagers at 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center from 9:30am – 3:30pm on Saturday, March 25. Money Matters will feature interactive workshops exploring banking (including electronic banking), applying for auto and student loans, understanding your paycheck and taxes, an introduction to investing, and much more. Coal Mining and Music
Russ Salk will host a presentation Coal Mining and Music about this industry early in the 20th century. The first part will be a multimedia presentation of extended selections from Julia Wolfe's powerful and moving piece, "Anthracite Fields." This piece won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2015. After, Russ will give a talk about working conditions of miners. Some of the details related to this can truly be described as shocking. People with roots or connections to coal mining areas, with personal stories to tell, are welcome to tell their stories. This program will go from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Don't miss the 48th Annual Home and Product Show organized by the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. The location this year is the Former Walmart location next to Big Y at 69 Prospect Hill Road in East Windsor. Hours are March 25 from 9am - 7pm and March 26 from 10 am - 5 pm.

Weekend Cross-country Ski and Snowshoe Rentals
Weekend Cross-country Ski and Snowshoe Rentals at Windsor’s Northwest Park

Beginning January on Saturday and Sunday you can rent equipment to cross-country ski or snowshoe at Northwest Park through snow-laden forests and fields. Rentals are available from the Warming Shed on weekends only, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Children and adult sizes are available. Snow conditions permitting. A 6” base is required. The rental fee is $10.00 for Windsor resident and $15.00 for non-resident. Call for conditions 860-285-1886.

This elegant and memorable evening of dinner, dancing, live, and silent auctions is attended by hundreds of corporate executives, the medical community, local, state, and national elected officials, and other prominent members of the community.

This is the 30th year for the Crystal Ball with a long history of raising critical funds to support Easterseals’ programs. The net proceeds from the 2017 Crystal Ball will support Easterseals’ programs with emphasis on our new Veterans & Military Fam
