The Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting a photo event at the Palisado Cemetery in Windsor to photograph the historic gravestones and memorials in the town’s oldest cemetery. Join a team of dedicated history buffs on Saturday, August 21, 9 am - 12 noon to photograph over 300 gravestones to complete the photo library on the Find-a-Grave website, a well-known resource for genealogists and historians. The cemetery is located across from the Windsor Historical Society at 107 Palisado Ave., Windsor. (Rt. 159 north of the Farmington River bridge)
Some helpful information for volunteers – The cemetery has rolling terrain, so be prepared for the possibility of rough walking. Volunteers will also need their own smartphone or digital camera and clipboard and bring bug spray and sun protection.
Pre-registration is required by emailing Terry Lewis at: firstname.lastname@example.org. This event is co-sponsored by the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter DAR, the First School Society, and the Windsor Historical Society.
