Springtime is gardening time! Whether you are cultivating a backyard area, a vertical or a container garden; understanding the threats to your soil is the first step. To learn how you can make your soil healthier, more productive, and reap the best benefits from your home garden, join us on Wednesday, May 8, for a Free Public Forum at the Windsor Town Hall Council Chambers from 7:00-8:30 pm. The Windsor Conservation Commission is honored to have Dan Kittredge, Director of the Bionutrient Food Association as Presenter. Renowned for his years of study and hands-on knowledge, Dan continues to educate people with a down-to-earth guide to making your garden grow more plentiful. An organic farmer for more than 30 years Dan is the founder and Executive Director of the Bio-nutrient Food Association (BFA), a non-profit association located in Massachusetts. Its noted mission is to “increase quality in the food supply.” Known as one of the leading proponents of “nutrient density,” Dan works to demonstrate the connections between soil, plant, and human health and the symbiotic relationship between all of them and our need to understand it. Dan has noted in his extensive talks, “Nature knows what she is doing. Nature has all things figured out, and its in our best interests to understand what she has figured out!” Knowing the interaction between your soil and your plants can make the difference between a healthy yield and the loss of plantings or inferior quality.
