Shad Derby Festival On The Green
As the Shad Always Return to Windsor, so do the great New England organizations, businesses, food vendors, crafters, exhibitors, parade participants and live entertainment to the Windsor Shad Derby - Windsor's Most Beloved Festival and New England Springtime Tradition !!!

Hosted by the Windsor Jaycees, in association the Windsor Shad Fest Bureau, this year's Shad Derby Green Activities and Parade take place on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 9am to 4pm.

The Windsor Town Green will be packed with plenty of local entertainment - magicians, games, fun surprises, vendors and family fun activities

Elm Tree Restoration and Tours
The public is invited to the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead at 778 Palisado Avenue in Windsor on Sunday, May 21 , 2017, at 1 p.m., to celebrate the restoration of American elm trees on this historic property. The Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution joins with the Ellsworth Memorial Association, the Nature Conservancy, and the U.S. Forest Service to plant new disease resistant elm trees and contribute to the ongoing elm tree restoration of river floodplain areas throughout the Northeast. Shad Derby 5K Road Race & Fun Walk
The Shad Derby 5k Road Race & Fun Walk sponsored by the Windsor Kiwanis will be held in Windsor Center on Shad Derby Day. The race now features electronic timing provided by the Last Mile Racing Co and for an additional fee on line registration.

The 5K Run and 2.5K Fun Walk will begin and end at the Elm and Broad Street (Route 159) intersection in Windsor Center, Windsor, Connecticut 06095. Registration will start at 8:45AM on race day. Start time is at 10:00AM for both the Run and Walk. Parking is available in Windsor Center and at Sage Park School. There is a discount for preregistration.

Shad Derby Festival Parade
One of the highlights of Shad Derby Day Festivities is the annual Shad Derby Parade that kicks off at 11:30am and marches through Windsor Center.

Sponsored by the Windsor Jaycees the Shad Derby Parade features some of New England's most popular bands, schools, marching units, local entertainment acts a long with the region's finest local civic organizations and festive businesses marching down Broad Street in Windsor Center !!!

WWRX Swim Team Tryouts
WWRX Swim Team will hold tryouts for swimmers ages 5-18 at 5:00 PM-6:00 PM at Windsor High School Pool on May23rd and May 25. Windsor Water Rats eXpress is a competitive swim program offering a wide range of opportunities for recreational swimmers as well as a more competitive aspect of swimming at the state level. The recreational summer season runs from the end of May to the end of July with weeknight practices and swim meets against neighboring towns. Practices and home meets are held at the Windsor High School pool. Try outs are free. Registration is due at tryouts. Forms and more info
