Out & About: Frank Beaver, owner of FBMW Inc. Flooring Contractors
Frank Beaver is the owner of FBMW Inc. Flooring Contractors Co. The business was established in 1985. Professional installers founded FBMW Flooring Installations with the purpose in mind of providing Better Quality flooring products to the average buyer. Their philosophy of maintaining a small sales platform and keeping low overhead has allowed them to keep prices at a minimum, even as the industry is running wild with increases in transportation and materials. They are a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Frank was born and raised in South Carolina, where he went to school. After graduating, he went into the service in 1965. After leaving, he came up to Connecticut, where he took at job at United Aircraft and Transportation Corporation. During then, his brothers had worked in the flooring business, which he had done part-time in the 70's. Frank began to work from home in 1985, as he entered the flooring business full-time. He started working at 457 Windsor Ave. in 1996, before purchasing it in 1999. Although Frank is the owner of FBMW, (as then name reflects his initials), his brother who has also been with commercial flooring sometimes works with him on jobs.

Some of the places FBMW has worked for have included the Hartford/Windsor Marriott Airport when it was first built. A few of the insurance companies on Day Hill Rd. have been provided by FBMW's services. They have beautified many churches around the area. They even worked on a football stadium, providing ceramic tiles.

When it comes to flooring, Frank is quick to answer. "A lot of people don't emphasize the flooring. Should you go in any home and the flooring is not up to par, it makes a great difference in the home or anywhere you go. The flooring is one of the basic parts of any building or whatever that makes it look good. The appearance makes a big difference. I try to be very conscientious of the flooring when I do it, wherever I do it. It's a part of me. Should I go in any building or whatever, subconsciously I'm always noticing the flooring. It's a part of me that makes me tick." Frank says that manufacturers normally give a warranty of one to ten years on some of the products. FBMW allows as long as the product is satisfactory to the client or if they aren't happy with it. "I don't put a limit on the time. I stand behind it. Period. It represents me. I take pride in that."

Things have slowed down for Frank and he does have his eye on retirement. He would like to keep FBMW going in the future with another generation that could include his son or nephew. Frank works with his nephew often enough.

Regarding our town? "I'm proud to be a resident of Windsor. I don't think I'd rather be anywhere else. Choosing the towns, I would choose Windsor over any of the others. I don't think there's a better town in our surrounding area."

Being a longtime Windsor resident, Frank often times goes to Bart's for a hot dog, or gets pizza from any number of places that offer such. He patronizes many restaurants, but has no exact favorites

Frank supports high school baseball and basketball. He has mentored a young neighbor who did not have a father. When it comes to supporting of non-profits and community-run organizations, Frank contributes to them. Along with his contributions, Frank is a member himself of the Elks Lodge and American Legion.

Three words that describe Frank: Aggressive. Caring. Open-minded.
