Windsor has been a hot bed of wildlife activity since before recorded history. So it was no surprise when I got a call reporting an animal sighting in the northern area of Windsor. "What is it, a bunch of wild turkeys, a coyote, some deer?" I asked. "I saw it. It was large, and dark brown. It might have been a bear," said the eyewitness, "but very large." Bear sightings aren't all that rare around here, but true to my nature as an investigative reporter, I went out to have a look for myself. Driving up Rainbow Road and through some of the wooded areas nearby, I peered through the trees, camera in hand, to see if I could catch a glimpse of the animal. A call in to the police revealed several other reports of a large wild animal roaming the woods. They all indicated the animal was larger than the black bears that have been spotted in Windsor before. Roaming, sitting, walking, still no sign of anything. Then, wait! A rustle in the woods. Could it be? Camera ready, I shot a photo of the animal! Have a look for yourself! |
