Educational Homestay Program

This year's program will bring approximately twenty-five students, ages thirteen to eighteen from Shanghai and Beijing to our area to study English, and learn about American culture. Students are split into mixed-nationality groups for both classes and activities. Therefore, they are required to rely on English as a primary means of communication.

The students will stay in our area from July 14th to August 4th, and will be hosted by volunteer host families. The staff of Program Leaders here in Windsor are searching for families in Windsor to open their hearts and homes to one or more of these international students for the benefit of cultural exchange.

The students are fully insured and bring their own spending money. They are well disciplined kids. They and their parents must sign a contract adhering to a
zero tolerance rate, while here, regarding smoking, drinking and sex. If this is broken they are immediately returned to their home country/parents. The students come completely insured through EF with a $10 million dollar comprehensive liability policy.

The students will arrive at Newark, accompanied by Tour Escorts from their home countries, and will be bussed here to Windsor to meet their host families. The following Monday, the will begin the lessons at the Course Center. They will study English through EF's ESL curriculum, taught by local board certified teachers, each morning. In the afternoons, the students will participate in group activities, trips, study visits, sports, shopping etc. organized and supervised by the Program Leaders and Tour Escorts.

In the evening, and on weekends, the students will stay with their host families and interact with their as an integral part of their family, and will surely create a memorable experience for the host families.

These same Program Leaders will be in constant contact with the host families to answer their questions and concerns, personally interview them in their homes, and involve them in the program's events with the students. They will be available around the clock while the students are here for the host families and students.

We are able to offer our volunteer host families various "perks" associated with hosting an EHP International student some of which are:

Community service hours for school-age children of host families, where applicable
EF Passports and stickers given for hosting one or more students, which can be accumulated and used for travel money
Host Family discounts on various EF programs
Participation in program activities for Host Families
