The dinner, sponsored by Geisslers Supermarkets and prepared by Carol Engelmann, catering manager at the Beanery at Bart's, is a new program from the Windsor Chamber of Commerce Green Committee. The dinner is an opportunity for people to learn more about organic food, which stores have the best selection, exchange recipes and tips, and enjoy a great meal together. "People want to eat healthier, but are overwhelmed with too much information. We offer tips on how to eat more organic food without spending a lot of money and what ready-made organic foods are available locally," says Jane Garibay, Executive Director of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. The Valentine's dinner included spaghetti and meatballs, a delicious salad, and Italian bread with tiny meringues and cupcakes for dessert. After dinner, while the group enjoyed organic tea or coffee, the evening's speaker, Carol Loughran from Peaceful River Massage, gave a brief but interesting talk about the health benefits of therapeutic massage. Part of the proceeds from the dinner will be donated to the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank. Additional food donations were also collected. The group meets on the second Monday of each month. Sign up early, as space is limited. The next dinner will be on Monday, March 14th. Stacy Munro from Nature's Helper will discuss Naturopathic medicine. Menu to be announced. To RSVP, go to www.WindsorCC.org and click on the Eat To Live event on the calendar or call 860-688-5165. Recipes are available on the website. 2/18/11 |
