Operation Academic Support for Incoming Service members
On Thursday, January 28, 2010 a ceremony was held, opening the new OASIS (Operation Academic Support for Incoming Service members) center on the Manchester Community College campus for veterans of recent and ongoing military conflicts.

The center is a room where student veterans can go to relax and talk about their unique experiences, in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.

The center includes couches, a large flat screen television, desks, computers, a painting, plants, and kitchen appliances, donated by the veteran-run Transfer Enterprises, the Woman's Club of East Hartford, the Woman's Club Glastonbury and the GFWC (General Federation of Woman's Clubs) Windsor Woman's Club.

Pictured are: (standing) Gayle Jiliani, President of the Woman's Club of East Hartford; (holding the plaque) JoAnn Calnen, President-elect of GFWC/CT; Peg Spiller, a member of the Woman's Club of East Hartford; Beverly Leone, a board member of GFWC/CT; (knelling) Leslie Apostalon, a member of the Woman's Club of East Hartford; and Mary Crehan-Vaca, President of the GFWC Windsor Woman's Club.
