Chamber Hires New Executive Director
The Windsor Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the hiring of Adam Gutcheon to be its next Executive Director. Adam will take over the position by the end of 2018.

The Chamber’s search committee found Adam to be a unique candidate whose passion for our community was abundantly clear throughout the hiring process. Adam, a native of Windsor, holds a distinctive place in our town’s recent history as the youngest member of the Board of Education. In his teen years and early twenties, he served on the Board from 2004–2008, including two years as vice president. Adam has spent most of his professional career in Washington, D.C., working in data technology, politics and management consulting. Most recently, he has run his own consulting firm, working with businesses and organizations to improve their management, operational efficiency and use of technology.

“We focused on finding the person who could best strengthen the Chamber in the areas of membership growth and engagement, programs and services, and communication,” said Erik Morrissey, vice president of J. Morrissey Recruiting & Staffing and Chamber vice president, who led the Chamber’s search committee. “We were looking for someone who had an appreciation for the Windsor community and its unique strengths and potential. We have found all that and more in Adam.”

“What impressed us about Adam—beyond his obvious intelligence, curiosity, thoughtful way of speaking and analytical skills—was his deep passion for Windsor,” said Sarah Gilligan, Chamber president and owner of Cerebration | Writing + Graphic Design. “Adam is returning to his hometown to work on serving and improving the place he loves. He is an inspiring individual who can lead the Chamber to new growth.”

In addition to Morrissey and Gilligan, the Chamber’s search committee also included Paula Pierce, Chamber board secretary and owner of Hosting Connecticut, and Pamela Crouch, Chamber vice president and director of sales at Homewood Suites. The committee, which began the search by seeking input from key community and Chamber members, received 43 applications and interviewed four candidates. The two finalists were interviewed a second time by the committee, plus a Chamber board representative, a past Chamber president and Phyllis Stargardter, the Chamber’s administrative assistant.

“We are so fortunate to have had Erik’s professional guidance throughout the search process. He and J. Morrissey donated their services to the Chamber and oversaw every aspect of the search, making this time of transition much easier to navigate,” said Gilligan.
