Reverend’s Bar & Kitchen Brings Local Flavor to Newly Renovated Hartford/Windsor Marriott
The Hartford/Windsor Marriott recently completed their year-long renovation process to become the most “Marriott Modern” Hotel in Connecticut, which included the addition of new restaurant, Reverend’s Bar & Kitchen. The hotel and restaurant renovations were completed by MBA Architecture & Interior Design. Reverend’s Bar & Kitchen is located inside the Hartford/Windsor Marriott Airport at 28 Day Hill Road, Windsor, Conn.

“Our team of associates and the local community are excited to welcome Reverend’s Bar & Kitchen to the Hartford/Windsor Marriott,” said Michael Trosin, General Manager. “The restaurant’s elaborate locally-inspired menu options featuring regional fare that celebrates Windsor’s history and elevates the dining experience for guests and the community.”

The restaurant’s name dates back to the 17th century and pays homage to its hometown’s history. Windsor, Conn. was first settled on September 26, 1633 by a small party of settlers from Plymouth, Massachusetts Two years later, Reverends John Maverick and John Warham led over 60 people from Dorchester, Mass. to the new Connecticut settlement. At the time, Rev. Warham called the new settlement “Dorchester” and over the years many more settlers joined them. A couple years later the settlement’s name was changed to Windsor by the colony’s General Court to honor the town of Windsor, Berkshire in England. Reverend’s was named to honor John Maverick and John Warham for their involvement in the development of the town.

The brilliantly-designed, contemporary restaurant fuses the mouthwatering taste of regional flavors with the culture of the community. Menu items were inspired by the area’s rich history and give guests from near and far a glimpse into living in Connecticut. Several of the crafted cocktails get their names from the past, including the Palisado Avenue Sipper – a combination of rye, angostura bitters, and ginger beer – which refers to 747 Palisado Avenue in Windsor, Conn. where the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead is located. The menu also boasts a collection of carefully selected local wine and craft beer, including varieties from Stonington Vineyards, Hopkin Vineyards, Thomas Hooker Brewery, Stony Creek Brewery, Two Roads Brewing Co, and Thimble Islands Brewing Company.

When it came to food, Executive Chef, Emmanuel Brathwaite, looked to his surroundings to spark creativity in the kitchen. Brathwaite even put a Connecticut touch on their pizza offerings by including ‘apizza,’ a Neapolitan-style pizza that is a local favorite common to New Haven. The menu also includes unique bites like Guacamame, a spin on guacamole made with edamame, and newly-developed signature items such as Po’ Boy Banh Mi Handhelds, Ancient Grain Salad featuring quinoa and kale, and Chicken and Andouille Rice Bowls.

“We take pride in the fact that our menu is created with locally-sourced items,” said Brathwaite. “We work with several local and regional businesses for our dairy, fruits, vegetables, chicken, beef, and bread, including Sid Wainer and Sons, Cambridge Packing Company, Foley Fish, City Fish, Gulf Shrimp, and Diana’s Bakery.”

Reverend’s Bar & Kitchen is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for both guests and the public. For more details on the Hartford/Windsor Marriott visit TravelBrilliantly.com.
