No Farms...No Food!

No Farms...No Food!
As never before now is a wake-up call to frequent and appreciate our local farms. The Covid Pandemic has changed our lives making it more important to access locally grown produce and products.

Many residents say they love Windsor for its green open spaces and farmlands, but farmers cannot survive on admiration alone. If we want to keep farmers in Windsor, it's essential we sustain them by buying from them and show you treasure independent farmers and all they offer communities as a wholesome source of food and products. Overall, local farms are better for the environment and a lifeline to fresher foods as opposed to mass-produced, processed, and long-distance shipped foods.

According to Environmental Nutrition and other reports locally grown often tastes fresher and has more nutrients because it's harvested close to peak times and requires less travel time from farm to table. In addition, farms contribute to a town's economy and in Windsor, farms serve to enhance our pastoral beauty while providing healthy in-season fresh foods and products.

A list of several of Windsor Farms include: Brown's Farm,Thrall Farm, Bednarz Farm, River Street Farm, Newgate Farms, River Valley Farm, Earthtone Farms, Forgotten Acres Farm, Birchwood Farms, Heart & Soil Farm, Hastings Farm, and during the season, Windsor's Farmers Market hosted by First Town Downtown. Discover each farm's specialty and dates they are open: Call or visit their website or find them on CT Guide to local farms.
