Many Rivers Supports Interval House with Donation Drive
Many Rivers Community Acupuncture is excited to announce their support of Interval House, the largest domestic violence non-profit in the state of Connecticut. Many Rivers will collect in-kind donations for Interval House’s Wish List from October 8 to 19.

Often the women and children who come to Interval House have left everything behind. Interval House gives these families refuge in a safe house. And once they leave the shelter, Interval House provides the daily necessities they need to start over in new housing, such as clothes, toiletries, and cleaning products.

“We always have pamphlets for Interval House available in our clinic, because sometimes victims don’t realize that there are trusted resources ready to help them,” says Many Rivers owner and acupuncturist Carrie Sawtell, L.Ac. “We’re hosting this donation drive to thank Interval House for being such an important lifeline for those in crisis.”

The acupuncturists at Many Rivers give treatments to domestic violence survivors for anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD. The safe and soothing atmosphere of the clinic combines with the relaxing acupuncture treatments to quickly reduce stress levels and ease emotional turmoil.

“Having a safe and secure place to live is an essential cornerstone of being healthy,” says Many Rivers owner and acupuncturist Carrie Sawtell, L.Ac. “Unfortunately, domestic violence is an ongoing threat to the safety of many in our community. It affects people of all socioeconomic levels, ethnic backgrounds, and ages.”

Many Rivers will collect priority items on the Interval House Wish List during the donation drive: household cleaning supplies (sponges, soap, bleach, detergent), paper goods (plates, napkins, flatware), and toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, feminine hygiene products). Interval House requests that all items should be new and full-size (not travel size).

Many Rivers will also collect gift cards for local grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations which will help the survivors set up in their new home.

Many Rivers will sponsor a raffle to encourage donations. Everyone who participates in the drive will receive a raffle entry. The winner will receive a week of free acupuncture treatments at Many Rivers; second place is a free year-long membership in the nationwide community acupuncture co-op, POCA; and third
place is one free acupuncture treatment at Many Rivers.

Many Rivers is part of the community acupuncture movement, which is working to make health care affordable and accessible. Acupuncture treatments are provided on a sliding scale, from $15 - $35 per treatment (plus a one-time new patient fee of $10). Their highly-trained acupuncturists treat a multitude of health problems, including pain, tendinitis, arthritis, digestive disorders, seasonal allergies, infertility and gynecological complaints.

Many Rivers is located at 775 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor. For more information, call (860) 683-0011 or go to http://www.manyriversacupuncture.com. Interval House is located in Hartford and can be contacted at (860) 246-9149 or https://intervalhousect.org/.
