“This expansion will secure the capacity we need to establish ourselves in fields we are already successful in, and tap into new areas,” said Leipold Inc. General Manager Michael Krämer. The manufacturer has now doubled its production floor space from just over sixteen thousand square feet to more than thirty-two thousand. The company has invested $3.5 million on a new suite of buildings, and is also set to expand on its equipment from around twenty-five machines to approximately fifty in the coming years. Central cooling system to increase process stability The company has raised its precision levels while equipping the production facilities for increased energy savings and environmental protection alongside the expansion in production capacity. The central cooling system will keep the machines supplied with oil at a constant temperature, thus significantly increasing production efficiency. “The innovative cooling system will substantially stabilize our machining processes,” said Krämer. Another positive effect will be the reduction in energy that the cooling system consumes compared to the conventional process, with both the cooling system and the machines releasing less waste heat. The hall no longer heats up, making for a more pleasant working environment. Company-run production facilities in the US since 1999 Leipold has been producing turned parts in the US since 1999; so far, the main local expansion drivers for the company have come from the industrial engineering and electrical fields. The manufacturer plans to increase its workforce to match increasing demand; Leipold Inc. had around forty employees before breaking ground, and had hired ten more specialists by the time it started operations. Deputy Governor Nancy Wyman came to congratulate the Leipold Group on commissioning its extended production facilities at the official opening ceremony. The state contributed three million dollars as a loan on preferential terms as a clear signal to the company. |
