Description:
Christ the King Lutheran Church Where Everyone is Truly Welcome Christ the King Lutheran Church Christ the King became an established church in 1954 and is a member of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). CTK is a compassionate and friendly community of people, where everyone is truly welcome. We are a congregation that values knowing one another by name. We blend the old and the new in our worship. We are enthusiastic about church events as a "family." We are proud of our efforts to help the needy and the hungry. We strive to help the people in our local community and invite them to be part of our activities and events. Our members look forward to Pastor Doug's "Living Bible Sermons," which are grounded in our faith and also address modern challenges and issues. There is only one thing missing at Christ the King and that is you and yours! ELCA Lutherans..who we are ELCA Lutherans are a politically and theologically progressive branch of the family that offer a unique understanding of what the bible is and isn't, and how it is best used. We are centered in the Person of Jesus the Christ and we know him most deeply in the Breaking of the Bread (Holy Communion), in Baptism and in loving servanthood to those in need. Our Worship follows the most ancient pattern that the earliest church created to praise and know God, though our language and musical forms change, appropriate to the time and the culture in which we live. We are inquiring and supportive people. Doubts or differences are not only allowed, they are encouraged!!! Pastor Doug Ryniewicz Pastor Doug was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, but enjoyed the influence of German Lutheran Grandmothers. Pastor Doug obtained his graduate degrees in marriage and family counseling from C.C.S.U. and practiced therapy for 10 years, before going to Seminary. He obtained his Masters of Divinity degree from Yale University and Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. Pastor Doug is now pastor of Christ the king Lutheran Church, teaches a graduate level counseling course at C.C.S.U. and continues to practice therapy, offering marriage and family counseling.
