Concert on the Green

Concert on the Green
The Concert and Taste of Summer were postponed due to rain. They'll take place today, Tuesday, August 7th.

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce and First Town Downtown invite you to a concert on the green from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM featuring Personal Touch, sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway and Bart's Drive In Restaurant. Free. 860-688-5165 or WindsorCC.org or FirstTownDowntown.org.

Personal Touch consists of a group of singers (formerly of the Jus Us Band) who will perform Old School R & B music from the legendary Motown era such as The Spinners, The Whispers and The O'Jays to name a few. They will also debut music from their upcoming CD!

Zucchini Mania Contest! 50+/Seniors
Gardening, baking experts and novices alike are invited to grow the biggest zucchini, OR bake a zucchini bread or dessert (if you enter for baked good prize, you do not have to grown your own zucchini) for our Zucchini Mania Contest! Fabulous prizes will be awarded for largest zucchini, weirdest shaped zucchini, and best zucchini baked good!

Summer Classic Movie Series
The Windsor Public Library features Swing Time starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Roberts, Victor Moore in their Summer Classic Movie Series. This series will run every Tuesday evening from June 26 to August 28. The film runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Free. 860-285-1918.

Yoga on the Green
Stretch and strengthen in this all-level yoga class, no experience required. Bring your mat if you have one and/or a towel and meet on the Windsor Town Green at 5:30 pm for an hour-long free community yoga class on August 2nd (cancelled due to rain) and August 23rd.

You'll be using your breath to connect to movement and yoga to connect your body and mind. Release any stress or tension that may have accumulated throughout the day and flow into your evening feeling refreshed and energized.

Tour Windsor Rocks!
The partnership that brought you TourWindsorCT.org is at it again! Have fun with Tour Windsor Rocks starting Thursday, July 12 through August 23 with a kickoff painting party on July 12th at 6:00 pm at the Windsor Historical Society and paint your own Tour Windsor Rocks rock.

Take a photo of you and your rock, then find a spot on the tour to leave the rock for someone else to find. Then visit TourWindsorCT locations to find a rock to take a picture with. Post photos of the fun, painted rocks to social media with the hashtag #tourwindsorrocks and tag us @tourwindsorct.

Taste of Summer!
The Taste of Summer and concert on the green were postponed due to rain! They'll take place on Tuesday, August 7th.

First Town Downtown will hold its “Taste of Summer” fundraising event from 6:00 to 8:30 on the Town Green during the summer concert. There will be a variety of dishes cooked up by your favorite Windsor restaurants.

While you taste, enjoy the Motown sounds of Personal Touch as they perform for the Summer Concert Series on the Green.

Admission for “Taste of Summer” is $25, $20 for Seniors/Educators, and $10 for children 12 and under. Food is all you can eat with the price of

Visit Northwest Park on Saturday, August 4th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon for a “Canoe Adventure” with nature. Learn about our local waterways and the plants and animals that call them home. This adventure is for ages 6 and above. No canoeing experience is necessary, however, there will not be a staff member in your canoe. The First Town Downtown 2018 Farmers’ Market will begin its 10th season on Thursday, June 28 from 3:30 to 6:30 at 240 Broad Street in Windsor Center. The Farmers' Market will run every Thursday through October 18th. To kick off this event we are reaching out to you in hopes of having you donate a (fake/real or manufactured) Christmas tree that will be decorated with the theme “Christmas in July”. Each tree that you enter will have your name/business/organization on a sign in front of the tree so everyone will know who did such awesome work. We are asking that each tree space be purchased for $25 so that we can use the money we raise to create a scholarship for a graduating Senior at Windsor High School who has a passion for the Culinary Arts.
