Chamber eNews for June 9, 2020: We Have Work to Do
A statement from the Board of Directors of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce:

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce stands with the black community for justice and against racism and brutality. As an organization dedicated to economic empowerment, we take the position that no economy can reach its potential so long as a great many of its participants are prevented by structures of power from reaching their full potential.

One of the things that makes Windsor so special is that it’s a place of black entrepreneurship. We pledge to increase our efforts to reach, nurture, and cultivate black- and minority-owned businesses, and to make sure our education and development opportunities reach these entrepreneurs. We will improve black representation in the Chamber’s membership, in Chamber activities, and on our Board of Directors. And as a civic organization, we will support efforts in our town focused on justice and harmony.

Windsor has much to be proud of as a diverse, integrated, and loving community, but much work remains to be done. The Chamber of Commerce stands ready to support that work.

Racism and Your Small Business

No one can argue that the times we are living in are unlike anything we’ve witnessed before. There is no playbook for how to respond to the violent acts of racial injustice that have been exposed across the country. At the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC), we plan to do our part to contribute to a societal shift towards inclusion and equity, and we’d like you to participate.

Consistent with our mission of educating and supporting women-owned businesses, we are launching a series to provide a forum for dialogue focused on how small business owners have been impacted by recent events
