“The work of our Windsor Food & Fuel Bank’s Board is extremely rewarding as the food and funds we receive stay in town, distributed directly to our Windsor neighbors,” explains Ernest (Ernie) T. Perreault, President of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. “Our organization’s mission is to, ‘Let no person go hungry, be cold, or go without basic necessities,’ and we partner with Windsor Social Services and many local businesses and civic groups to ensure that pledge.” The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank Board of Directors meets monthly to review program offerings, plan fundraising initiatives, and to consider how best to meet the needs of the Windsor community. Board members also are asked to represent the organization at local fundraising events and donation presentations, and serve on a focused sub-committee. The Board is most effective when its Board members have a wide range of experiences, expertise, and collective interests. The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank’s programs include its year-round community food pantry at L.P. Wilson Community Center, the Weekend Wheels backpack program for Windsor Public School students and their families, and emergency energy assistance support. The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1967 as the Windsor Community Service Council (WCSC). The generosity of local individuals, businesses, civic and religious organizations provides for 95 percent of the WF&FB’s annual operating budget. For more information, visit www.windsorfoodbank.org.
